Clarifications and Definitions
Effective Date: 1 January 2025
This document sets forth the specific definitions, exclusions, and interpretive rules that govern the application of Fevgroup Fluid Control’s product specifications, performance guarantees, and warranty terms. These clarifications are intended to resolve any ambiguous language in our technical literature and contractual documents, ensuring a common understanding between Fevgroup and its customers regarding the capabilities and limitations of our high-pressure valves, cryogenic actuators, and corrosion-resistant trim sets.
1. Scope of “Zero-Leakage” Performance
The term “zero-leakage” as used in Fevgroup product documentation refers to a bubble-tight shut-off condition verified in accordance with ISO 15848-1 Class A or ANSI/FCI 70-2 Class VI, as applicable. This performance is guaranteed only when the valve is installed and operated within the pressure, temperature, and media compatibility limits specified in the relevant product data sheet. Leakage rates exceeding these standards due to improper installation, thermal cycling beyond rated limits, or exposure to media not listed in the material compatibility table are excluded from warranty coverage.
- Bubble-tight shut-off is defined as no visible leakage during a 15-minute hydrostatic test at the rated differential pressure.
- Field adjustments to packing or seat load may be required after initial thermal cycling; this is considered normal commissioning and not a defect.
- Zero-leakage claims do not apply to valves used in slurry or erosive services unless specifically validated by Fevgroup engineering.
2. Material Grades and Corrosion Resistance
References to “high-grade stainless steel alloys” or “Hastelloy,” “Inconel,” “Duplex,” and “Super Duplex” in our literature are based on the chemical composition and mechanical properties defined by ASTM A182, A276, A479, and B564 as applicable. Corrosion resistance data provided in technical bulletins are derived from laboratory tests under controlled conditions and may not replicate all field environments. The customer is responsible for verifying material suitability for the specific chemical composition, concentration, temperature, and presence of impurities in the process fluid.
- Maximum service temperature for 316L trim is 450°C in oxidizing environments; for reducing environments, limit is 400°C.
- Hastelloy C-276 is recommended for wet chlorine and hypochlorite service up to 65°C; above this temperature, consult Fevgroup for alternative alloys.
- Stress corrosion cracking resistance of Duplex 2205 is validated per ASTM G36 in boiling 25% NaCl solution; field conditions with chlorides above 1000 ppm require additional evaluation.
3. Actuator Performance and Integration
Actuator torque ratings, stroke times, and positioning accuracy are specified at standard supply pressure of 5.5 bar (80 psi) using clean, dry instrument air per ISO 8573-1 Class 2.2.1. Deviations in supply pressure, air quality, or ambient temperature outside the range of -20°C to +60°C will affect performance and must be factored into the system design. The integrated digital positioner’s 0.5% accuracy is based on a 4-20 mA input signal with a maximum loop impedance of 600 ohms; HART communication requires a minimum impedance of 230 ohms at the receiver.
- Failsafe spring-return actuators are tested to close within 1 second per 100 Nm of torque at rated pressure; actual stroke time depends on valve size and piping volume.
- Position feedback accuracy is maintained only when the actuator is mounted per Fevgroup installation drawing M-1022 Rev. C or later.
- Third-party valve integration requires a signed interface drawing and may void actuator warranty if mounting dimensions or stem connection deviate from Fevgroup specifications.
4. Warranty and Liability Limitations
Fevgroup Fluid Control warrants its products against defects in material and workmanship for a period of 18 months from the date of shipment or 12 months from the date of commissioning, whichever occurs first. This warranty does not cover normal wear, damage caused by misapplication, unauthorized modification, improper storage, or failure to follow installation and maintenance instructions. In no event shall Fevgroup be liable for consequential, incidental, or indirect damages, including but not limited to loss of production, downtime, or environmental cleanup costs.
- Warranty claims must be submitted in writing within 30 days of discovery of the alleged defect, accompanied by a detailed description and supporting evidence.
- Fevgroup’s sole obligation under warranty is, at its option, to repair or replace the defective product FOB our facility in Ahmedabad, India.
- Use of non-genuine replacement parts or unauthorized field repairs voids all warranty obligations.
5. Definitions of Key Terms
For the avoidance of doubt, the following terms used in Fevgroup documentation have the meanings set forth below. These definitions supersede any conflicting definitions in general industry usage or in the customer’s standard terms and conditions.
- “High-pressure” means a rated working pressure exceeding 1500 psi (103 bar) at 38°C per ASME B16.34.
- “Cryogenic” means service temperatures below -50°C, with design validation per BS 6364 or ISO 28921-1.
- “Automated pipeline” refers to a piping system equipped with remote actuation and control via a distributed control system (DCS) or programmable logic controller (PLC).
- “Seamless integration” means the product’s mechanical and electrical interfaces comply with published Fevgroup connection standards; it does not imply plug-and-play compatibility with all third-party systems without additional engineering.
